Letter From The President
Axemen,
A new season is upon us! This season we have the addition of two more clubs to Division II Rugby in PNRFU - Bend RFC and Chuckanut RFC.
We welcome both clubs to the playing field and look forward to some fun and challenging rugby.
With the addition of two more teams to league play we will have 8 matches in both Fall and Spring halves. This means there is a lot of
tough rugby to be played. We need to stay healthy and be fit if we want to challenge our opponents. With hard focused trainings and
"do it yourself" fitness we should be in the running for every match we play. I see a very tough, yet level, playing arena in DII now.
So pay your dues early and don’t forget to CIPP!
This season we have one change in the officer corp for Player at Large - Kyle Windenburg. He has been a solid fixture in trainings and
matches the past seasons and we look forward to his continued commitment to Eastside Rugby. I’d like to give big thanks to our outgoing
Player at Large, Geoff "Mongo" Freeman. Since moving from Portland to Seattle he has been a great addition to the club. Thanks Geoff!
The club officers are committed to keeping this club competitive as well as charitable. We have discussed lots of great ideas and hope
some will come to fruition. We also have more merchandise coming down the line so don’t forget to bring cash to trainings and matches
to pick up a t-shirt, beer coozie, polo, or old training jersey. With added matches we will still try to have two fundraisers with a
portion of our proceeds going to charity. Updates to club events will be on the webpage so check back often, go to trainings, and read
your emails!
With all this said I look forward to seeing the Eastside ruggers out on the training pitch. And remember - there are usually always
two matches on game day! Afterall - Saturday’s a Rugby Day!
Best regards,
Stephen Krause
President
